For me there has been many career highlights. Noteable highlights include being the current three time consecutive World champion in the K1 500m and seven time Australian champion in the K1 1000m.

However it goes with out saying that there are two definite career highlights. First was being selected in the 2000 Olympic team to represent Australia on home soil. I was selected to compete in the K1 500m. At the Olympic Games I was squeezed out in the semi-finals by 0.2 seconds in one of the quickest semi-finals. On time I would of qualified in every other semi-final.

That leads to the second highlight which was overcoming my disappointment in Sydney to go on and improve by becoming the World Champion in the same event two years later in Spain in 2002 in the K1 500m. I also went onto win a silver medal at the World Surf Life Saving titles in the USA in the single surf ski. Two world medals in two different sports in the same year is quite an impressive feat. I am only the second ever Australian to win the K1 500m in the history of racing. The only other time it was won by an Australian was back in 1989. To make things even better, I then went on to successfully defend my World title in 2003 and also medal in the K1 1000m and successfully qualify for the 2004 Olympic Games. I have since then gone on and repeated my 2003 results with another world title making it 3 in a row in the K1 500m and also another 3rd in the K1 1000m.

That then leads to my recent Olympic Games in Athens 2004. Here i took on a huge task of competing in 3 events during the Olympics meaning that i would race 9 times in the 6 day program. it was a big ask and going to be tough to back up in between the K1 500m and the K2 500m as i only had 1hr in between events along with the medal ceremony.
In the end it was all worth it and I made all 3 finals and finished 2nd in the K1 500m, another 2nd in the K2 500m and a 4th in the K1 1000m. It was an amazing finish for me to a very hard week of racing!!
